ATFD
Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD):
An Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD) is utilized in water treatment for concentrating liquids through the evaporation of water and solvents. These devices are widely employed in various sectors such as wastewater treatment, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals due to their ability to efficiently manage complex drying tasks.
A standard Thin Film Evaporator comprises a tubular heat transfer section with an external heating jacket and a rapidly rotating inner rotor equipped with flexible or rigid wiper elements. The feed product is evenly spread across the heating surface by the rotor and its wipers, forming a thin, uniformly thick liquid film. This ensures excellent heat transfer, continuous renewal of the product film, and provides consistent heating along with a short residence time for the product.

Agitated Thin Film Dryers (ATFDs) are extensively used in wastewater treatment, particularly in Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems.
- Drying waste products: ATFDs are used to dry industrial waste and sewage sludge to make them easier to dispose of and handle.
- Crystallization and Drying: After concentration, ATFDs dry crystallized solids into a powdery form, making them easier to manage or reuse.
- Recovering solvents: ATFDs are used to recover solvents for the production of adhesives, resins, and coatings.
Agitated Thin Film Dryers (ATFDs) offer several advantages:
- Ideal for heat-sensitive materials due to short residence time.
- Can handle a wide range of viscosities, suitable for various industries.
- Scalable to meet production needs.
- High thermal efficiency with a large surface area for evaporation.
- Designed for continuous operation with a steady material supply.
- Minimize product degradation, especially for heat-sensitive and viscous materials.
- Ensure uniform drying with rotating blades agitating the thin film.
- Made of stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
- Easy installation with interconnecting piping, condensers, and vacuum system included.
We have successfully set up wastewater treatment plants that include Agitated Thin Film Dryers for drying MEE concentrate in pharmaceutical industries, Edible Oil refineries and various types of industries.
